Howard H. Harris, 90, of Stuttgart, Ark., passed away peacefully at home on Monday, May 27, 2019. He was born in the Sand Hill community near Des Arc, Ark., on Dec. 4, 1928.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Joyce Jenkins Harris; three sons, Gene (Marie), Keith (Terri) and Terry (Robin); three grandchildren, Tiffany Joslin, Lindsey Gates (Michael) and Lee Harris (Kaylie); and four great-grandchildren.
After more than 25 years as a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, he retired in 1989, spending the next 20 years building a rental property business. After his family his great love was baseball, especially the St. Louis Cardinals whom he followed avidly. He was a fixture at John Cain Park for more than 30 years coaching and umpiring Little League baseball. He was known and loved by generations of young ball players to whom he taught baseball fundamentals as well as fundamentals for life. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church.
A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, May 31, at Southside Baptist Church.

A very special thank you to the 911 first responders and Stuttgart police and fire departments. Their quick response, professionalism, courtesy and respectful, caring attitude are very much appreciated as they responded to numerous call during the last days of Howard’s life.
