Marvin Earl Saunders, 71, of Benton, formerly of Roe, passed away Saturday, Aug. 17, 2019, at Saline Memorial in Benton.
Marvin was born April 16, 1948, in Stuttgart to Earl and Geraldine Gray Saunders. He was a retired farmer and lifelong servant of the Lord. He was a member of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church of DeValls Bluff and also served as adult Sunday School teacher. He loved telling others about Christ, spending time with his family, hunting and fishing and was a friend to all.
He was preceded in death by two children, Dewayne “Bubba” Saunders and Marva Jill Saunders; a sister, Marilyn Smith; maternal grandparents, Gerald and Katie Gray; and paternal grandparents, T.B. and Jessie Saunders.
Survivors are his wife of 53 years, Brenda Booker Saunders; two sons, Brent Saunders and wife Amy of Benton and Greg Saunders and wife Theda of Vilonia; daughter-in-law, Janet Saunders of Roe; his parents, Earl and Geraldine Saunders of Roe; five grandchildren who called him Grandaddy, Amanda Saunders, Dillan Saunders, Ashley Saunders, Jack Saunders and Sophie Saunders; two step-grandchildren, Emily Willhite and Gracen Willhite; and one great-granddaughter.
Funeral services, officiated by Bro. Billy Booth and Bro. Allen Minton, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church of DeValls Bluff with graveside burial service following in Roe Cemetery by Turpin Funeral Home of Stuttgart.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Arkansas Children’s Hospital or Arkansas Baptist Children’s Home of Texarkana.
