Bro. Sam Morgan passed from this life and opened his eyes in the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Feb. 25, 2020.
He was born Mar. 2, 1937, in England, Ark., to Robert and Minnie Corbishely Morgan. He married Carol Sue Reeves in 1955. Sam was a farmer by vocation and a minister of the gospel by calling. He pastored in the Humphrey, DeWitt and Stuttgart areas during his ministry. Churches he pastored include: Antioch MBC (Humphrey), Big LaGrue MBC (DeWitt), New Hope MBC (Stuttgart) and 31 years at Calvary MBC (Stuttgart). He served five years in the Arkansas National Guard.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Joslin; grandson, Cliff Morgan; and granddaughter, Danielle White.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Morgan; two sons, Bruce (Cynthia) Morgan of Humphrey; and Rick (Gayla) Morgan of Ward, Ark.; grandchildren, Nichole (John) Harris, Clint (Kim) Morgan, Mallory (Justin) Hoelzeman; Spencer (Jessica) White, Ricky (Shea) Peabody, Heather (Cory) Peacock, Gloria Peabody and Jamie Peabody; 10 great-grandchildren; and a host of friends and souls whom his ministry touched.
Funeral services, officiated by Bro. Jackie Richardson and Bro. Larry Forte, are 2 p.m. Thursday at Turpin Funeral Home chapel with burial following in Williams Cemetery. Pallbearer honors will be fulfilled by his grandsons.
Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Turpin Funeral Home.
