Roberta Leighton “Bobbie” Hill Longnecker, 79, of Stuttgart, passed away Saturday, August 29, 2020, in Searcy, Ark.
Bobbie was born to Kenneth “Papa” Hill and Mary Francis Hill on December 9, 1940. She married her beloved husband Howard Longnecker in January of 1957. Howard and her parents preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death was her sister, Alice Dean Sneed.
Bobbie and Howard were blessed with two children: Gary (Alice) Longnecker and Cindy (Jeff) DeVazier. Bobbie was blessed with a special nephew, Kenny (Lynann) Hill. She is also survived by the joys of her life, her grandchildren, Rachel (Preston) Mitchell, Hunter (Jordan) Longnecker, Collin (Katie) McDougall, Merritt McDougall, Kari (Lance Fraize) Melnychuk, Erin (Jeff) Scholtes and Michael (Jona) Lewis. Adding to her joy were her great-grandchildren, Carson and Camron Mitchell, Gigi and Vivianne McDougall, Mary Leighton Longnecker and baby Longnecker (coming in 2021), Landon Melnychuk and Gavin and Les Scholtes. Bobbie is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Bobbie was a devoted wife, mother, MeeMee and Christian. She was a faithful member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, where she served on the altar guild and many women’s groups over the years. For a number of years, she was the woman behind the scenes at the business that she & Howard owned together, Riceland Builders. Bobbie was Howard’s caretaker for several years after he became too ill to work. She was a member of the Stuttgart Preceptor Alpha Eta Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi sorority, where she once was the “Valentine Queen.” Bobbie was also a very devoted employee at Dr. Randy Cress’ Chiropractic Clinic for many years.
Services will be Tuesday, September 1 at 11:00 am at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Stuttgart. Visitation will be an hour before, 10:00 am, at the church. Burial will follow at Lone Tree Cemetery in Stuttgart. Due to Covid 19 face masks are required by attendees per the Arkansas Department of Health.
