Leland Roy Minton, 91, of Stuttgart passed away Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2020, at his home.
Mr. Minton was born Dec. 8, 1929, in Harrisburg, Ark., to Otis Roy and Bernice Minton. The Army veteran of the Korean War was retired from the USDA Federal Grain Inspection Service and also Producers Rice Mill. As a member of First Baptist Church in Stuttgart, he was a deacon, Sunday school teacher, choir member and served with his wife as Southern Baptist Convention Disaster Relief volunteers for 10 years. He was a lover of Southern gospel, blue grass and country music.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Lawrence Minton; a sister, Kay Minton Quarles; and an infant sister, Mary Jane.
Survivors are his wife of 68 years, Neva Jo Minton; daughters, Lea Ann Minton Sorrows (Dennis) of White Hall and Sharon Minton Capps (Rex) of England; brothers, Gerald Minton of White Hall and Douglas Minton of Pioneer, La.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside services, officiated by the Rev. Grant Medford, are 11 a.m. Saturday at Lone Tree Cemetery chapel by Turpin Funeral Home of Stuttgart. In keeping with mandated restrictions due to the COVID pandemic, face masks must be worn and social distancing observed.
