Marion Sumner Meins, 91, of Little Rock, formerly of Stuttgart, passed away Tuesday, June 8, 2021, at Baptist Health-Little Rock.
Mr. Meins was born Jan. 19, 1930, in Stuttgart to Heinrich George and Catherine Rose Meins. He was a graduate of Stuttgart High School, an Air Force veteran and retired from Riceland after 25 years as a manager of the soybean division. He was an elder and active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church where he was involved in the men’s Bible study. While in Stuttgart, he was very community oriented and began the Lifeline.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Alice B. Meins; an infant son in 1951, Michael Wayne Meins; and six siblings, Ruby Louise Meins Dierks, Harold Louis Meins, Herbert Gene Meins, Arthur Hagen Meins, George Howard Meins and Minnie Lucille Meins Staton.
Survivors are his wife of 22 years, Carolyn Meins; daughter, Connie Meins Gollon of Hot Springs; one brother, Waymond Clarence Meins of Pine Bluff; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services, officiated by Pastor Don White, are 2 p.m. Friday at St. John’s Lutheran Church with visitation from 1-2 p.m. before the service. Burial will be in Lone Tree Cemetery by Turpin Funeral Home of Stuttgart.
