Rodger Carol Shrum, 68, of Stuttgart passed away Tuesday, July 27, 2021, at Baptist Health-Stuttgart.
Rodger was born Dec. 14, 1952, in England to Charley and Maranda Shrum. He was a 1971 graduate of Stuttgart High School and a member of the 1970 State Championship Ricebird football team, a sport he had played since 1963. Rodger was owner of his own painting business for nearly 40 years, Rodger Shrum Painting Service. He was a member of First Christian Church.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charley Shrum; and infant brother, Randy Clay Shrum; uncles, Oscar Shrum, Horace Shrum, Wesley Shrum and Roscoe Shrum; and aunts, Margaret Bounds and Opal Kagebein.
Survivors are his daughter, Melissa Spence and her husband Jeff of Vilonia; mother, Maranda Shrum of Stuttgart; and brother, Bill Shrum of Stuttgart.
A graveside service will be 10 a.m. Friday at Almyra Cemetery.
Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Turpin Funeral Home.
The family suggests memorials to the donor’s choice.
