Teddy Ray Sanders Jr.

Teddy Ray Sanders, Jr., of Hazen lost a long battle with COVID at the UAMS Medical Center on Oct. 3, 2021. He was 46 years old. He was born July 24, 1975, in Stuttgart, AR.

Teddy attended ITT Technical Institute. Throughout his life, he worked in the vocational areas of welding, farming, and mechanics. From a young age, Teddy fascinated and frustrated others by disassembling any electronic toy he could find, just to figure out what made them work, and then he would put them back together. He was an extraordinary mechanic and was not only gifted, but highly respected in his vocation.

Teddy professed his life to Christ as a young adult. He was the perfect example of a work in progress, headed in the right direction. To know him was to love him. He brought laughter and joy to all around him. He could lift spirits on your darkest of days. Some of our fondest memories of his childhood are the inseparable moments with his first cousin, Mark Burks, Sr. Some of the happiest times of his life were spent with his fiancé, Penny Phillips. Teddy had a great love for children, although he had none of his own. One of the greatest privileges of his life was caring for his bonus children, Kimber Brooke Vaughn and Wade Derden.

Although nothing can compare to his love for his mother, Teddy had a very special place in his heart for his bonus mother, Lily Sanders.

Teddy is survived by his mother, Mitzi (Terry) London of Casscoe; his father, Teddy (Lily) Sanders, Sr. of Humphrey; his grandmothers, Dean Hodges of Humphrey and Mary Sanders of Humphrey; his sisters, Deana (Joe) Foster of Mountain View and Tera Swan of Little Rock; four bonus sisters, Tiffany (Joey) Pauschert of Carlisle, Kate (Blake) Foster of Stuttgart, Kim (Doug) Granger of Ward, and Lisa (Kenny) Sullivan of Ward; his uncles, Barry (Lisa) Hodges of Stuttgart, Michael “Porky” (Traci) Hodges of Humphrey, Jerry (Debbie) Hodges of Alexander, and Steve Sanders of Humphrey; his aunts, Margie (Randy) Burks of Stuttgart, Mandy Hanson of Stuttgart, Diane Gibson of Humphrey, and Regina Donaldson of Humphrey; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and close friends.

Teddy was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Joe Hodges of Humphrey and Bobby Ed Sanders of Humphrey; his uncles, Gary Hodges and Ricky Hodges of Humphrey; and second cousin, Gabriel French.

A memorial services will be held at Turpin Funeral Home in Stuttgart on Thursday, October 7, 2021. Visitation will begin at 12 p.m. with ceremony to follow at 2 p.m. and interment to take place at Flynn Cemetery, immediately following the service.
