William “Buddy” Beck


William “Buddy” Beck, 78, of Stuttgart, Ark., passed away peacefully with family by his side on October 30, 2018. He was a loving husband, father, step-father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.

Buddy was born in El Dorado, Ark., to Henry and Ella Beck on September 14, 1940. He was a graduate of El Dorado High School. He attended two years of college at the University of Magnolia. He was a drafted into the Army in 1963 and was stationed at Fairchild Airforce base in Spokane, Wash

Buddy was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Ella Beck of El Dorado; and mother of his children, Jean Rubach of Stuttgart, Ark

Buddy is survived by his loving wife, Gail Beck of Stuttgart; children, Brent Beck (Sara) of Buford, Ga., Tina Morris (Don) of Stuttgart, Heath Beck (Leigh Ann) of Conway, Ark.; step-children, Cindy Scherm (Kenny) of Stuttgart and James “Eddie” Butler (Holly) of Humphrey, Ark.; sisters, Sharon Campbell (Dallas) of Tulsa, Okla., and Frances LeMay (Ray) of Minden, La.; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Buddy had many hobbies he enjoyed. He was the definition of an outdoors man. He loved to go hunting; you could often find him in the deer woods waiting for that big buck, sometimes looking through the eye of a scope of but occasionally through the lens of a camera. He also equally enjoyed fishing, spending many hours waiting for just the right nibble on the line. He was just as proud of the pollywogs he caught as he was of the big mouth bass and catfish. He regularly enjoyed these hobbies with his children and friends. Camping was another pastime that brought him great joy. Many summers were spent at Merrisach campground for weeks at a time camping with a family of seven. Hunting, fishing and camping are loves that he passed on to his children.

Family, friends and others whose lives were touched by Buddy are welcome to attend a Celebration of Life Memorial to honor him on November 18 at Grand Prairie Center in Stuttgart. Visitation will be at 1p.m. Memorial service to follow at 2 p.m. Pastor Richie Malone will officiate the service.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be given in Buddy’s name to Assembly of God Church in Clarendon, Ark. Pastor Richie Malone.
