Elsie Yvonne “Gammie” Kennedy, 94, of Stuttgart, Arkansas, peacefully passed away at her home Tuesday, April 30, 2019. She will be lovingly missed by all who knew her.
Yvonne Kennedy was born February 1, 1925, in Reeves, La., to David Minzo and Grace Lee Land Harrison. She was an excellent cook (best gumbo ever), homemaker, creative quilt maker, sewing expert, and strong in her faith. However most of all, she was a loving wife, a caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She had a unique way of making everyone feel welcomed and at home whoever and wherever you were. She had a love for nature (all things big and small) and the outdoors, a great sense of humor and a gentle kindness that she lovingly passed down to all her family.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin E. Kennedy; sister, Vera West; and brothers, Charles Harrison, Harold Harrison, Phillip Harrison, and Richard Harrison.
She is survived by her two sons, David E. Kennedy (wife Robin) of Baton Rouge, La., and Danny Kennedy (wife Michele) of Stuttgart, Ark.; daughter, Jennifer Kennedy Sullivan, (husband Johnny) of Stuttgart, Ark.; brother, James Harrison of Center City, Ky.; and sister, Edith Stewart of Lecompte, La.; seven grandchildren Chelsea Sullivan Mathews (husband Spencer), John Brock Sullivan (wife Jesslyn), Daniel Harrison Kennedy (wife Lauren), Gracen Kennedy Warren (husband Will), Karl Jackson Kennedy (wife Rebekah), Jessica Taylor Kennedy, and Megan Rena’ Kennedy; and four great-grandchildren, Eli Sullivan, Lola Grace Matthews, Nora Kate Kennedy and Elsie Kate Sullivan.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday at Turpin Funeral Home in Stuttgart.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Creel Cemetery At Camp Pearl in Reeves, La., by Rush Funeral Home.
