  John Percy Phelps Sr


John Percy Phelps Sr., 90, of Lodges Corner, passed away peacefully Sunday, December 11, 2016, at Baptist Health-Stuttgart.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Vaughn Phelps; three brothers, Harry, Joe and Layton Phelps; and four sisters, Caroline Starker, Esther Rosin, Sarah Burnett and Lucille Phelps.

He is survived by three children, John P. Phelps Jr. (Diane) of Mississippi, Brenda Phelps of Conway and Rhena Phelps-Brooks (Larry) of Lodges Corner; two sisters, Helen Ann Lucas of Kansas City, Mo., and Daska Fulcher of Benton; seven grandchildren, Chris Phelps (Kimberly) of Mississippi, Hunter Phelps (Jennifer) of Prattsville, Diana Mills (Jason) of Mississippi, Jim Kyne (Amanda) of Greenbrier, Jackie Kyne of Benton, Austin Hayes (Erin) of Lodges Corner and Jacob Persons (Jovi) of Humphrey; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was a World War II Army Infantry veteran, who was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He was a farmer and a carpenter, but most importantly, a Daddy and a Granddaddy.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Lodges Corner United Methodist Church with visitation one hour before. Burial will be in Lone Tree Cemetery by Turpin Funeral Home of Stuttgart.
