  John Richard (Rick) Hines

On September 13, 2017, John Richard (Rick) Hines, 65, of Stuttgart, traded in his temporary vessel in order that he might sing a new song.

Born August 5, 1952 to the late John and Ann Hines of Stuttgart, Rick was big brother to David Hines (Medellin, Columbia) and Alan Hines (Stuttgart). In addition to racing toy cars and teaching his little brother to drive, Rick delighted in hunting, fishing and learning the craft of woodworking alongside his father.

After graduating from Stuttgart High School in 1970, Rick spent a number of years at ASU - Jonesboro before returning home to marry his beloved Cynthia Ratcliff (Stuttgart) in 1974.

The years that soon followed would give Rick his other two greatest loves – Sarah Hines Wilson (Maumelle) and Laura Hines Ozturk (Fayetteville).  As much as he loved his girls, he also enjoyed time with the fellas – overnight hunting trips to the Eagle’s Nest, fishing trips to Red Hill, and poker night.

After a decade of honing his skills and building his name in general construction, Rick opened Hines Custom Cabinetry Inc. Countless kitchens, baths and custom pieces filled his portfolio but “Green Acres” was the pinnacle of his work – the land where Rick would later build his workshop and personal residence, but more importantly, the place where he built his dreams and his family.

With the addition of a couple of amazing son-in-laws, Mark Wilson (Maumelle) and Barry Ozturk (Fayetteville), Rick was blessed with four beautiful grandchildren - Logan and Riley Wilson (Maumelle) and Macy and Grayson Ozturk (Fayetteville)…his pride and joy…and the adornment of his refrigerator.

Smart. Smart-mouthed. Funny. Witty. Often Inappropriate. Kind-hearted. Encouraging. Giving. Loving. Our beloved Daddy, Pops, brother and friend will be so deeply missed, but we rejoice in knowing he is FREE, WHOLE and HOME.

Please join us in celebrating his life on Wednesday, September 20th at 2:00 p.m. at Turpin Funeral Home chapel, 1107 W. 22nd St., Stuttgart. Please come casually as you are.
