Thomas Ryan

Thomas Ryan of Humphrey, peacefully passed into the waiting arms of his Lord and Savior on Friday, Nov. 19, 2021. Thomas was born Sept. 16, 1942, to Charles Carlton “C.C.” Ryan and Mable Gordon Ryan. He was preceded in death by his four brothers, Charles Carlton Ryan Jr., Eugene Ryan, J.A. Ryan, and Herman Ryan. He is survived by one sister, Lois Hooks.

Thomas’s life was filled with family and friends. Thomas was a man of deep faith and shared his love of Christ through his devotion to his church. He was a long-time deacon and Sunday school teacher until his failing health no longer allowed him to continue to serve.

A man of few words, he worked hard to provide for his family in the fields of Humphrey, farming rice, soybeans, wheat, and cotton with his dad, his brother Herman, and his three young boys for much of his life. When he retired from farming his own land, he continued to help others who worked the soil when he went to work for Terra.

Thomas was blessed enough to marry his best friend and love of his life, Wanda Sue Ryan. Sweethearts since they attended high school together, they wed in September of 1960 and shared 61 wonderful and fun-filled years of marriage before his passing. Their union bless them with three amazing sons, Greg Ryan (Kelly), Steve Ryan (Karen), and Eric Ryan (Mandy); four grandchildren, Dr. Kristyn Mikles (Andrew), Dr. Matthew Ryan (Emily), Chaney James (Forrest), and Regan Ryan; and one great-granddaughter, Kennedy Mikles. The family also wishes to express their deepest appreciation to Wanda’s brother Freddy Wicklund and his family who did so much for Thomas and Wanda in the times of greatest need.

The family will celebrate Thomas’s life and legacy with family and friends at Corinth Missionary Baptist Church in Humphrey on Wednesday, Nov. 24, at 11 a.m. with burial to follow in Frazier Cemetery. The family has chosen to not have a formal visitation due to Covid concerns.

Wanda has respectfully requested in lieu of flowers that memorials be made to the church home that meant so much to Thomas: Corinth Missionary Baptist Church, c/o Darrell Ellenberg, 313 Roth Prairie Rd., Stuttgart, AR 72160.
