Bernd Friedrich Hug

We are heartbroken to announce the passing of Bernd Friedrich Hug of Hot Springs, Ark.

He took his final breath at 10:55 a.m. on Jan. 21, 2023, at the age of 80. He passed away due to heart failure peacefully in his sleep with family by his side at St. Vincent’s Infirmary in Little Rock, Ark.

He will be sadly missed and will always hold a place in our hearts.

Bernd was born in Zweibrucken, Germany, on April 11, 1942. He was the first of two children born to Hilda and Fritz Hug.

After studying shoe design and marring Renate, they immigrated to America in 1965. They began their family and he began his long and productive career which would have him traveling the world.

Another milestone for Bernd was becoming a United States citizen on Dec. 3, 1982. He was proud of this achievement.

Bernd retired in 2008 and in his retirement enjoyed being outside doing yardwork.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 56 years Renate; a daughter, Christina Seidenschwarz, her husband Rob and their children, Abby and Hunter; a son, Stephen Hug, his wife Lana, their children, Hayley, Cainan, Kooper and Khloe; and great-granddaughter, Mavyn; and a sister, Roswitha Martin and niece Grace Martin of Germany.

We would love for you to come and honor his life at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Stuttgart on Saturday, Jan. 28, at 11 a.m. for visitation and 12 p.m. funeral service. Burial will follow in Lone Tree Cemetery by Turpin Funeral Home of Stuttgart.
