Evelyn Francis Rutherford

Evelyn Francis Rutherford, 90, of Chidester, Arkansas, formerly of Stuttgart, passed away Thursday, Sept. 14, 2023, at her home.

Mrs. Rutherford was born Sept. 5, 1933, in Blount County, Alabama, to John Henry and Modean Elizabeth Simmons. She was a homemaker and member of Forest Tower Baptist Church in Ico, Arkansas.

She was married to John Calvin Rutherford for 36 years until his passing in 2001. She never met a stranger, always had a smile on her face, and loved to talk to anyone whether it was in line at the grocery store or on the telephone. She loved flowers, the Lord, and her family, especially her grandchildren.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by seven loving brothers and sisters.

Survivors are sons, Ronnie Simmons and wife Becky of Stuttgart and Michael Stephne Rutherford of Stuttgart; daughters, Anne Cameron and husband Nick of Chidester, Tracy Ebner of Cabot and Debbie Higgins and husband Eddy of Alexander; step-son, John Rutherford of Stuttgart; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 18, at Turpin Funeral Home and a graveside service will follow at 2:30 p.m. Lone Tree Cemetery.
