Opal Claudean “Dean” Yarbrough, 91, of Humphrey passed away Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2024, at Crestpark of Stuttgart.
Mrs. Yarbrough was born May 12, 1933, in Humphrey to Rube Franklin Jones and Vera Burlison Jones Denhardt. She worked for 17 years at the Stuttgart Shoe Factory before taking employment at Lennox Industries. Following a near-fatal gunshot wound and after months of being bedridden in a Little Rock hospital, she overcame that to see the man who was responsible receive a sentence of life in prison. She later went on to work several years at Riceland before becoming a private sitter despite living the rest of her life in constant pain due to the shooting.
A farmer’s wife, she was well known for her cooking and hospitality – no one ever went hungry on a Sunday. She was a caregiver to not only her family but people in the Stuttgart area as well. She was very loving and protective of her family and loved to sing. She enjoyed traveling to Florida to the beach. She was a member of Humphrey Church of Christ.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Otto Denhardt; daughter, Patricia Lou Yarbrough; brothers, Bobby Ray Jones and Rube “Sonny” Jones Jr.; and sister, Ellie Parrish.
Survivors are daughter, Deborah Harris and husband Lonnie of Humphrey; son, Clinton Lorrell Yarbough Jr.; grandchildren, Chris Harris of North Little Rock, Stacie Reimers and husband Corey of Bryant, Caitlin Parks and husband Storm of Jonesboro and Eva Reimers of Bryant; and great-great-grandson, Rhett Michael Parks.
