We are heartbroken to announce the passing of Renate Eleonore Hug of Hot Springs, Ark. Renate took her final breath at 12:26 a.m. on May 16, 2023, at the age of 82. She passed away peacefully in her sleep with her family by her side at St. Vincent’s in Hot Springs.
She was born in Konigsberg, Germany, on Feb. 22, 1941, to Maria and Franz Korzinowski after her sisters, Inge Renner and Waltraut Haffner.
She married Bernd Hug on Aug. 6, 1965, in Schorndorf, Germany. They immigrated to the United States in 1968 for Bernd’s job transfer and built a loving family.
Proud of her heritage, she enjoyed telling stories of her upbringing in Germany and her travels. She was always in the kitchen baking and cooking her German recipes to teach her family the significance of her heritage.
Her occupations throughout the years include, but not limited to working as a specialist shoe seller in Stuttgart, Germany, as a secretary at St. John’s Lutheran School in Stuttgart, Ark., and at Belk in Hot Springs, Ark.
During her marriage of 57 years, she loved being a housewife, when she was not also working, a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She will sorely be missed and always remembered.
She was preceded in death by her father Franz and her mother Maria Korzinowski; her husband, Bernd Hug; and sisters, Inge and Waltraut.
Renate leaves behind a daughter, Christina Seidenschwarz and her husband Rob and their children Abby and Hunter; a son, Stephan Hug, his wife Lana and their children, Hayley, Cainan, Kooper and Khloe; great-granddaughter, Mavyn; and several nieces and nephews in Germany.
You are welcome and encouraged to come and honor her life at St. John’s Lutheran C hurch in Stuttgart on Saturday, May 20, at 10 a.m. for visitation and 11 a.m. for her funeral service. Burial will follow in Lone Tree Cemetery by Turpin Funeral Home of Stuttgart,
