Ronnie Johnson, 76, of Stuttgart passed away Sunday, Sept. 15, 2024, at Chambers Health and Rehab in Carlisle.
Ronnie was born April 26, 1948, in the Shiloh Community near Holly Grove. He was the seventh child of 10 born to Hoy “Duke” and Velma Johnson. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War serving from 1968-69. Following his discharge from the service, he worked in farm supply sales before switching to tire sales. After retiring, Ronnie became a minister serving several churches for the next 25 years. Things he enjoyed were singing, puppeteering, going to breakfast with his Co-op buddies, going to gospel singings, Razorback football, but he loved the most being with his family and witnessing to the Lord.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Harry Johnson and Arnold Johnson; sisters, Tolese Early, Delores Littleton and Rosie Bennett; and nephews, Tommy Littleton, Mackey Johnson and Brandon Johnson.
Survivors are his wife, Barbara Johnson with whom he would have celebrated 46 years of marriage on Sept. 30; sons, Scott Johnson of Bentonville, Shane Johnson (Tonya) of Mabelvale, Ark., and Phillip Bennett (Becky) of Almyra; daughter, Eva Williams (Wingi) of DeWitt and Angie West (Jonathon) of Casscoe; brothers, Wayne Johnson of West Monroe, La., and Ricky Johnson (Linda) of Luka, Miss.; sisters, Connie Gill (Gene) and Sandy McGhee, all of Beebe; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, at Humphrey Baptist Church, 408 N. Division St., Humphrey, Ark., with funeral services, officiated by Pastor Gene Craig, following at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Lone Tree Cemetery by Turpin Funeral Home of Stuttgart.
