Samuel Lynn Leder, Sam or Sammy to his loved ones, won his 2-year battle with ALS, at his home in White Hall, on Saturday, September 16, 2023.
He was born October 6, 1960, in Stuttgart to Howard and Beatrice Leder. He began his schooling at the Ulm Lutheran School and graduated from Stuttgart High School in 1979. Sam was the real-life MacGyver, able to fix anything and help anyone, and would do so without a second thought. Throughout his life, he held many roles, including farmer, welder, trust manager, father, and property manager, but most notably was hunting guide. Sam’s greatest joy in life was sharing his love of hunting with anyone who wanted to experience it, and he did so for the entirety of his adult life.
On March 3, 2001, Sam married his life partner, Stacey, on Blue Beard’s Beach in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. In December of 2002, Sam’s greatest accomplishment was born, Sara Bryn. Anyone who met Sam knew from the moment she entered this world, that nothing was more important. His girls - his wife Stacey and daughter Sara - were his everything. He is also survived by his two sisters, Ruth Brown of Little Rock, and Jane Dickson (Allen) of Stuttgart; and his sister-in-law, Nila Leder of Ulm. Sam was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Fred Leder.
The visitation is from 5-7 p.m., Monday at Turpin Funeral Home in Stuttgart. The funeral services, officiated by Ray Vester, are at 2 p.m., Tuesday at Turpin Funeral Home with burial following at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Ulm.
The family requests memorials be made in Sam’s honor to the Arkansas Game and Fish Foundation, 2 Natural Resources Dr., Little Rock, AR 72205.
