Sandy Crosby

The life of Sandy Crosby cast a light so bright it could not be dimmed, even in death.

Sandra (“Sandy”) Lynn Garner Crosby stepped into Heaven with her Lord and Savior on December 26, 2023.

Sandy was born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, on July 5, 1945, to Carolyn Baker Garner and Abner Garner. Upon Garner’s death when she was three, Sandy was raised by Dr. Harry McEntire as his own daughter in England, Arkansas.

Sandy’s education was primarily in England, though she ultimately graduated from North Little Rock High School. Following high school, she was employed at Southwestern Bell Telephone company, where she was honored as Miss Direct Distance Dialing. After her stint with SWB, she was selected by American Airlines to be a flight attendant, when flying was still considered a luxury; however, she chose to remain close to home, marrying Bill Crosby Jr., in 1964. The couple gave birth to a daughter, Ashley, and Sandy accepted a job at Producers Rice Mill in Stuttgart, where she worked for over 30 years, eventually becoming Executive Secretary to the Vice President.

Sandy loved nothing more than time spent with family, especially in front of a roaring fire with a glass of wine in hand. She was also a lover of fine food and a talented cook whose Thanksgiving dinners were legendary among her family. She is remembered for her intense, fiery love - a love that delighted in her daughter and in the achievements and happiness of others. Any room Sandy entered was instantly transformed by her boisterous laugh and her warm, expansive spirit.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carolyn McEntire and Dr. Harry McEntire; her father, Abner Garner; her sister, Barbara Pearson; and her brother, Harry (“Gene”) McEntire, Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Ashley (Matthew) Adams; her grandchildren, Elizabeth Grace and Christopher; and her sister, Harriett (Dale) Pool, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

Sandy’s memorial will be held on January 2, 2024, First Christian Church in Stuttgart. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. and services at 11 a.m. A private burial will be held at Sheridan Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation benefiting Parkinson’s research.
