William H. “Bill” Shireman, 88, of Hot Springs passed away Thursday, June 27, 2024.
Bill was born Nov. 1, 1935, in DeWitt to William DeWitt and Ellen Shireman. He was a 1954 graduate of DeWitt High School. After graduation he attended the UofA in Fayetteville receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering in 1958. After college he was employed with Shireman Inc. where he, his dad and brother built several houses which are still referred to as a Shireman-built home.
Upon closing Shireman Inc, Bill and his wife moved to Oklahoma where he was employed by United Engines. After a brief stay in Oklahoma, they moved back to Little Rock where he designed engines for Engines, Inc. After retiring, they moved to Hot Springs.
Bill was an avid outdoorsman where he loved to hunt, fish, backpack, do yard work and tinker on something constantly with his many, many tools and machinery.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors are his wife of 45 years, Alice Shireman; daughters, Kimberly Shireman Stafford of North Little Rock, Connie Shireman Hansen (Kevin) of Wenatchee, WA, Kerie Shireman Williamson (Jim) of Afton, OK, and Edie Sayre Daughtery (Dean) and Shannon Sayre Marks (Jason), both of Stuttgart; one brother, Ken Shireman (Celia) of Fayetteville; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 10, at Turpin Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to the service.
Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.
